Introduction

Energage is a platform of products built to help companies improve workplace transparency through surveys. They provide powerful tools for communication, and aim to make the world a better place to work together.

Challenges

The style elements across the entire platform were very inconsistent, and needed a brand audit, style guide, and design system. I also worked on the rebrand and ensured the new brand was communicative of the new iteration of the platform, while remaining familiar enough to be recognized.

Rebrand design

I got to work on the rebrand for Energage as they expanded their platform to include multiple workplace analytics and communication tools. Starting from the core principles of the company I worked towards a visual design language that fit their mission statement and audience.

Email system

Customer facing emails were part of the platform that had no organization system. I categorized the existing emails and used consistent visuals for them to create a more streamlined experience and increase trust from customers.

Design system for simplified handoff

For every repeating element I created symbols with consistent styles, and made them into a design system for efficient handoff to development. This was the first time this company had a consistent way of ensuring that the comps that were made by the design team were actually built the same way by developers.

Conclusion

Energage was the first design system I worked on, and I got to be a part of it from brand creation, to style guide, to design system. I saw first hand what a difference it makes to put in effort up front with intentional design system elements and save a huge amount of time later. I also learned how to organize design files which was very important in a time when Sketch files had to be exported and prototyped externally while keeping track of new versions. Overall this project was a great start in my design path.
